Procedure preparations
- Physical therapy is a treatment that is used to get the physical movements of the body better. Physiotherapy is used in pain management in general or after specific injuries.
- Examples of conditions that physical therapy is used in: back, neck, knee, and hip pain, sport injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, spinal cord injuries, rotator cuff tears, knee ligament tears, tendinitis, stokes, concussion, traumatic brain injuries, temporomandibular joint disorders, and certain chronic conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
- Physiotherapy is done in two techniques; the first one is done by the physical therapist who moves the body parts, and the second one is exercises that the patient does under the therapist’s supervision. Physical therapy includes stretching, massage, strength training, heat or cold therapy, hydrotherapy, and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.
