Cancers and tumors are very widespread, and it’s important to understand that they are different from each other.

Tumors (neoplasms)

When an abnormal growth of cells occurs in the body, it’s called a tumor. Tumors are typically solid and firm, and their symptoms differ depending on their location, size, and type.

Noncancerous, or benign, tumors have the following characteristics:

• They don’t invade the surrounding tissue.
• They don’t spread to other areas of the body.
• They don’t have cancerous cells within them.
• They tend to grow slowly.

Removing a tumor depends on the case, and it can be left under monitoring if it doesn’t cause any serious problems.

Cancers

Cancers are various, and they occur when there is an abnormal growth of cells that goes out of control and might lead to death in many cases.

There are two types of cancers, which are tumor cancers and blood cancers.

Cancerous, or malignant, tumors have the following characteristics:

• Cancers occur due to a gene mutation in the cells, which results from several factors like the lifestyle and the hereditary.
• The cancer cells invade the surrounding tissue and could spread to other parts of the body.
• Some cancers might grow and spread rapidly.

Treating a cancer differs between cases, and the chance of full recovery could also vary depending on the case.
